Sponsoring WordPress Themes: A Good Investment for My Business

November 12th, 2007 · 4 Comments

Part of my business budget over the past few months has gone into sponsoring WordPress themes.  I first tried it this summer and now I can see that it was a good investment.

Since Google updated backlinks, I have a lot of these showing up as backlinks to my site.  A lot of them are from personal blogs, too - so it’s really like getting organic links to your site over time.  And I really believe that these have played a good part in my recent surge in SE placement for certain sites of mine.

A word of caution though - if you do buy WP themes, try to get something really attractive.  I had paid for one awesome looking blog theme and that one seems to be getting me the most inbound links; while some cheaper, ok looking blogs haven’t seemed to help much.  As with most things - you get what you pay for.

I had thought about doing this. I was going to design my own, but I don’t have time right now. Is there a certain site you go to, to purchase the themes?

I had actually designed my own first - but then I found better designed ones at Digital Point forums (where I buy all of mine) and had better luck with them - I’m going to keep working at designing some good ones of my own though :)

Here’s the link where you can find them at DP:

And I would recommend getting footer protection to help ensure that your links stay in there.

Thanks, I will give that a try!

I have been looking at this for one of my new ventures. How much traffic do you get from them, and how does it affect your SERPS for the term you link with?
